What a year it has been in Kandale!
Our goal as the calendar turned to 2025 was to complete three of four new buildings needed for Institute Gufwa-Gubila to a point where the secondary school students could use them to hold classes.
At the time, we knew that completing work on all three was a long shot, but because of the generous support of donors like you, we made it: nine new classrooms are now in use!
With one block of three classrooms to go, our work is not done. We need your help to get us across the finish line, and a generous donor has offered a $5,000 matching gift! Together, we can build the final three classrooms and add the finishing touches — doors, windows, and paint — that will make these spaces truly ready for learning.

In addition to the school buildings, over the past 12 months we have:
convened the first teacher training program in decades, instructing 50 “master trainers,” who in turn will train their counterparts;
expanded the pre-school reading program, Ami du Livre, to 74 children;
trained more than 50 Kandale men and women in soapmaking and other income-generating work; and
organized the first-ever regional soccer tournament for more than 500 girls.
